Bonjour et bienvenue au cours de Sciences 9ième année!  Here you will find information on what we are currently learning in class and resources such as notes and other handouts.

Gr.9 FI Sciences - Chapter 10

In this introductory chapter to the Space Unit, we take a look at celestial bodies and their movements in space, along with a brief history of space exploration and the development of our current knowledge of the universe.

Chapter 11 takes a closer look at the our Sun and how it functions, along with some of its effects on our planet.  Various celestial bodies that are found in our Solar System are explained in this chapter and we take a quick look at space exploration today, along with Canadian contributions.

Chapter 12 will explore theories on how; stars, systems, galaxies and the universe are formed.  The key concepts are to understand the formation of these features within the universe and their individual features.

Chapter 1 is an introduction to the Chemistry (Chimie) Unit.  We start with a focus the revision of lab safety and procedures, and then we define matter (matière) which leads us into a brief look in the atomic theory.

During chapter 8, students learn of the concepts concerning electrical currents, voltage, and resistance.  The relationship between the these three major concepts will help to explain and understand Ohm's Law.

As the first chapter the electricity unit, students are introduced to electric charges and take a closer look at static electricity.

Chapter 9 identifies the major types of circuits (series vs. parallel), how electricity is made and how it is transported over long distances.

As the first chapter of Unit 2, we focus on the roles carried out by the nucleus in cells and take a closer look a the functions of chromosomes.  Mutations are also briefly discussed during the chapter.

During this chapter, we examine mitosis and its various stages, along with major types of asexual reproduction.

Chapter 6 explains meiosis with its stages and the process of sexual reproduction of cells in major organisms (mosses, plants, and insects).  We also briefly discuss genetic modifications during the chapter.
